Tail light

A tail light is a rear-facing vehicle lighting function. It is used to indicate the presence and width of a vehicle when viewed from the rear and emits red light.

Tail lights are often combined with other lighting functions such as the stop light, turn signal or backup light in a rear light. The tail light is a separate lighting function and should not be confused with the stop light.

In UN regulations, this function is referred to as a rear position lamp.
