Stop light

A stop light is a rear-facing light-signalling function that indicates the application of the vehicle’s service brake to other road users. It emits red light and must be clearly visible during daylight.

Stop lights are often combined with other lighting functions such as the tail light, turn signal or backup light in a tail light. The stop light has a higher luminous intensity than the tail light when both functions are operating, allowing the braking signal to be clearly distinguished.
