Flood
Flood is a beam pattern for work lights in which the light is distributed across a comparatively wide working area. It is suitable for applications where wide-area and, as far as possible, uniform illumination is more important than a particularly long range.
Typical areas of application include work machines, construction and agricultural machinery, as well as industrial trucks, where a larger area around the vehicle or in front of the machine needs to be illuminated.
Wide light distribution
In flood lighting, the available luminous flux is distributed over a relatively large solid angle. As a result, the luminous intensity in individual directions is generally lower than with a highly concentrated spot beam pattern of comparable luminous flux.
The actual brightness of an illuminated area cannot be determined solely from the luminous flux of the light. Key factors include light distribution, distance, mounting height and alignment.

Distinction from other beam patterns
Compared with the trapezoid beam, flood illumination is typically designed for a larger working area. A spot, on the other hand, concentrates the light more intensely, thereby enabling a higher luminous intensity in the main beam direction and a greater range.
