QR code

A QR code is a two-dimensional code used for machine-readable storage of information. The name stands for “Quick Response,” as the data it contains can be captured particularly quickly.

Unlike traditional one-dimensional barcodes, a QR code stores information both horizontally and vertically. This allows significantly more data to be stored, such as URLs, serial numbers, contact information, or product details.

QR codes are used in many fields today, such as logistics, manufacturing, industry, retail, and marketing. They can be read using scanners, mobile data capture devices, or smartphones.

In industrial settings, QR codes are frequently used for identification of components, for product traceability, or for quick access to digital information such as user manuals or technical data sheets.

In addition to QR codes, other two-dimensional codes, such as the DataMatrix code, are also used in industrial settings. This code is particularly well-suited for small components and applications requiring a high density of information.
