Barcode

A barcode is a machine-readable representation of data using bars and spaces of varying widths. It is used to quickly and uniquely identify products, components, or information.

Barcodes are used in many fields, such as logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, and retail. They enable rapid data capture via scanners and reduce manual data entry errors.

Among the most well-known types of barcodes are EAN codes used in retail, Code 128 for logistics and industrial applications, and GS1-128 for the standardized identification of shipping and product data in supply chains. In addition, two-dimensional codes such as QR codes and Data Matrix codes are also used.

In industrial settings, barcodes are frequently used to label products, serial numbers, or batches and are an important component of modern auto-ID systems.
